UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1963-1964[1]

The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1963-1964 was won by Sporting Clube de Portugal of Portugal, who defeated MTK Budapest of Hungary in the final.It is the first time a Portuguese team side has won a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup trophy.[2]

Sporting CP entered the competition to defeated Atalanta qualifying round, past APOEL F.C. was to the history of biggest win in UEFA competitions 16–1, Manchester United, Olympique Lyonnais and in the end defeated MTK Budapest, the same final that was played over two legs on neutral ground. Sporting Clube de Portugal win their first European title.

  5. The second leg was originally 3-2 to Sporting after 90 minutes, and 4-3 to Sporting after extra time. The referee erroneously ordered a penalty shootout which Sporting won 3-0; UEFA later ruled that Rangers had won on away goals.
