Sphaerotheca is a genus of ascomycete fungi that currently includes three plant pathogen species, Sphaerotheca epilobii, Sphaerotheca castagnei, and Sphaerotheca fuliginea, each of which cause forms of powdery mildew. S. fuliginea is the most commonly reported cause.[1][2]
The original type species, Sphaerotheca pannosa, now belongs to the genus Podosphaera.
