Spencer Trask & Co., has been instrumental in the formative stage of companies that have pioneered many technological and scientific advancements, including: genomics with Myriad Genetics,[2] healthcare reform, Health Dialog,[3] patent development -- Intellectual Ventures,[4][5] the Internet -- Ciena,[6] cloud computing infrastructure -- Aperture,[7] open innovation -- Innocentive[8][9] and inno360 (developed in partnership with P&G, and the Air Force Research Labs.[10])
Several Spencer Trask-backed firms have been acquired recently, including El Super (2013 revenues topped $1.1 billion), OpenTable ($2.6 billion), Prolor ($480 million), and Prospect Medical ($363 million).
The firm is inspired by Mr. Spencer A. Trask who financed Thomas Edison and was instrumental in the early stages of General Electric, Consolidated Edison, the New York Times and Moody’s Investor Services among others.
