Southern Education and Library Board

The Southern Education and Library Board (or SELB) is a board providing education and library services in the southern districts of Northern Ireland: namely the district councils of Armagh, Banbridge, Cookstown, Craigavon, Dungannon and South Tyrone, and Newry and Mourne. It covers an area of about 1,450 square miles (3,800 km2), covering around 332,000 people. The SELB is also responsible for youth clubs and youth services, and to that end also owns Shannaghmore Outdoor Education Centre, The Ballagh, Newcastle, County Down and Killowen Outdoor Education Centre outside Rostrevor.

The youth service is divided into 3 regional Divisional Youth Offices and these are Dungannon and Cookstown; Armagh, Newry and Mourne and Craigavon/Banbridge. Each of these offices are overseen by Divisional Youth Officers.

Population

The area covered by Southern Education and Library Board has a population of 395,047 residents according to the 2011 Northern Ireland census.[1]
