Southeast Pro Cycling is an UCI Professional Continental team whose license is held in Italy, and consists mainly of Italian riders and staff.[1][2]

In light of the doping scandals which took place within the team, during the 2013 and 2014 season, Neri Sottoli dropped their title-sponsorship for the 2015 season and Luca Scinto left the team. As a result of the lack of sponsorship Chinese construction company SouthEast Space Frame Co. became title sponsor of the team.[3][4]

Doping

On 24 May 2013, while Danilo Di Luca was riding in the Giro, the UCI announced that he had had an adverse finding in an out-of-competition doping test at his home on 29 April.[5] On 3 June 2013, it was announced that Mauro Santambrogio had tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) after the first stage of the 2013 Giro d'Italia.[6] The team fired both riders immediately.

On 12 September 2014, the UCI revealed that Matteo Rabottini has tested positive for EPO in an out of competition test performed on August 8. As a result, he was dropped by the Italian Cycling federations long list for the 2014 UCI Road World Championships.[7] In December 2014 Rabbotinis samples were counter analysed and provided confirmation that they were positive for EPO. The team is set to terminate Rabbotini's contract and begin legal proceedings against him upon final confirmation of his positive test. As a result of the teams poor doping history, the team has been suspended by the MPCC and has jeopardised their 2015 Giro d'italia wildcard.[8] As it was announced in January 2015 that Southeast Pro Cycling had received a wildcard invitation to participate in the 2015 Giro d'Italia.[9]
