South Mecklenburg High School (founded 1959) is a public secondary school located in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. It is part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. It is locally known as "South Meck", or just "South". Its mascot is the Sabre and the school colors are red, black and white.

Students

South Meck had over $3 million scholarship dollars awarded for the 2008 seniors. Of the four selected in the South Region, two became Merit Scholarship Recipients.

Faculty

Several South Meck teachers and counselors hold National Board Certification, with many more working towards certification. 32 hold advanced degrees. South Meck faculty averages 12 years of teaching experience and 73% have more than four years of teaching experience. Coach Dave Price-took the South Mecklenburg Sabers basketball team to 4 state championships in the 1970's.

Other

The Theater Department received Best Show and Best Ensemble, and qualified and performed for the state at the NCTC. The department also received many honors for its actors and the theater director won Best Director Honors.
