South Breeze School is an English-medium educational institution located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 1986 by principal Zeenat Chowdhury, the original campus was located in Dhanmondi. The campus was relocated in 2000, and in 2004, a new additional section was opened in Uttara.
Academics
The school follows the British IGCSE syllabus and the students are taught for Ordinary level (O-level) examinations conducted by Edexcel International. The school has been one of the leading ones in Bangladesh in terms of O-level results since 1990, when the first batch of students graduated from the school. South Breeze students have consistently maintained a large presence at the annual Daily Star awards ceremonies for high-achieving O-level and A-level students, and have been selected as valedictorians in 2000 (Dibya Huq), 2004 (Asheque Shams) and 2010 (Intekhab Hossain and Inara Sunan Tareque[1]).
South Breeze School is now providing Digi class by using computerized white boards.
Sports
South Breeze provides professional coaches for handball, volleyball and table tennis. The school, being one of the top ones from Bangladesh, has participated in various volleyball tournaments against numerous schools around Dhaka city.
The school cricket team of the late 1990's had tasted commendable success, reaching the quarter-final stage of the nationwide Standard Chartered (formerly Nirman) inter-school tournament in 1999 at its peak. The school football team was established in 2001 to participate in the Aga Khan School tournament.
South Breeze girls handball team won the KFC-sponsored championship in 2008. The boys' volleyball team finished runners up in the Sunnydale games in 2012 and in the Scholastica Games in 2013. South Breeze also won the championship in table tennis in the 2012 Sunnydale Games. Other notable achievements include the consecutive runners-up and championship finishes by the girls' basketball team in 2004, and a boys' volleyball title in 2002-03.
Others
Other than producing competent students, the school has also provided the country with influential rock stars. Graduates of the 1999-2000 batch formed a band named 'Nemesis', now one of the leading rock acts in the country.
