Soulburn is a black/doom metal band from Oldenzaal, Overijssel, Netherlands. After the demise of Asphyx, Soulburn was founded in 1996 by Bob Bagchus and Eric Daniels were looked for a separate outlet to play the old Celtic Frost, Venom and Bathory style. Later, a debut album Feeding on Angels was released in 1998 via Century Media Records featured with Wannes Gubbels (Pentacle) on vocals/bass. Soulburn were put to rest and seemed to be a mere transitional act before Asphyx achieved a short-lived return for On the Wings of Inferno (2000) with the same line-up.
Therefore, Rogga Johansson and Bob Bagchus formed the band To the Gallows in 2013 with the idea to play old-school doom/black metal style. They called Eric Daniels and Henri Sattler to fill the line-up. As the writing process for a first full-length album moved ahead, they decided to change the band's name to Soulburn in early 2014. Rogga Johansson eventually left the band. 16 years later, after their debut album, Feeding on Angels the blackened death metal merchants return to the surface by signing a new worldwide recording agreement with Century Media Records in their new line-up. Soulburn's second full length album The Suffocating Darkness was released on November 17th, 2014. Also, the band started their first tour in Germany alongside with Bolt Thrower and Morgoth.[1]
