Sophora godleyi is commonly known as kōwhai, godleys kōwhai or papa kōwhai and grows naturally in the west of the North Island from Te Kuiti to the Manawatu in New Zealand.
S. godleyi has a weeping habit[1] and can grow to height of about 25 metres.[2]
There is a profusion of yellow flowers around October/November making it one of the finest of New Zealand's native trees.[3]
