Sonic Bloom is an annual electronic dance music festival held near Denver, Colorado. It was started around 2006 by Jamie Janover. Until 2011, most artists at the festival were local to Colorado, before the festival began booking larger international acts. In 2012, EDM publication Magnetic Magazine named the event "Colorado’s premiere electronic music festival." DJs that year included Papadosio, Random Rab, Eskmo, etc.[1]

A number of disasters marred the 2013 rendition, which brought about 3,500 people. Sonic Bloom staff organized a “ceremony and prayer in regards to the community loss" after an unknown concert goer was found dead in a tent outside the festival. Afterwards, a power-outage in the area put a tent out of commission and weather knocked over a trailer. After that, local police detained a "happy naked man” near the camping area. After the man was tackled into a ditch, a police officer repeatedly tazed him, before the man was taken away in an ambulance. A SWAT team was then called in to deal with the crowd, which was upset by the severity of the arrest, though by the time the team arrived, the "angry crowd" had naturally dispersed.[2] Denver Westword later published a report that the streaker, then identified, had been tazed a total of eight times by police, with EMT's at the time shouting at police to stop or risk killing the man.[3] The Denver Channel later reported that Sheriff of Clear Creek County, Don Krueger, claimed "no wrongdoing" had been done by police after a review by the department.[4]
