Songtime Theatre Arts is a former professional part-time theatre arts school, operating primarily in the United Kingdom. Training is offered in singing, dancing and acting.[1] It was founded by Matthew Chandler. They were well known for being one of the first groups to bring a stage version of High School Musical to the UK.[2]

Vanessa Awards

Founded in 1991, 'The Songtime Awards' were started to celebrate the performances and members within the company. In 2002, they were renamed 'The Vanessas' in memory of Songtime member Vanessa Cavanagh. Vanessa herself was a Best Actress winner, and the recipient of the Mary Chandler singing trophy.[3]

Notable alumni

Songtime members have performed at the Royal Variety Show, the Eurovision Song Contest, and the Queen's Golden Jubilee.[4]

Existence

The organisation is listed as ceased to trade and their website is no longer available. As the group had a large membership base It is believed that another group has sprung from it.[5]
