Sonargaon University (often abbreviated to SU) is a university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has four faculties: that of Science and Engineering, that of Business and Economics, that of Humanities and Social Science, and that of Law and Justice.^[1]

Criticism

The application for government approval of Sonargaon University was made by politicians Rashed Khan Menon and Nazrul Islam Babu, leading to allegations of corruption.^[2] Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has stated that the approval was not politically motivated, but was instead based upon consideration of areas that did not have universities.^[2]
