Sohanlal (സോഹൻലാൽ) is an Indian Film Director and writer, based in Kerala.

Career

He started his career as casual production assistant and script writer with Doordarshan ,TVM, 1996–2000 and later was worked with major television channels - Indiavision ,Kochi, 2000-2002 ,Middle East Television MET ,Dubai,2002-2004, Jeevan TV,Kochi,2004 and Amrita TV,TVM,2004-2011 as Director-Programs

Early Life

Sohanlal was born in Thiruvananthapuram on 14 November to P K Das and Kamala Das, both school-teachers. He attended the SMV School, Thiruvananthapuram and later did his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Kerala. Sohanlal also did a Post Graduate Diploma in Web Designing from C-Dac. A holder of the Advanced Yoga Teacher's Certificate from Yoga Alliance International, Sohanlal is also a yoga practitioner and trainer.

As Director

He shot into fame in 2006 with the TV FILM Neermaathalathinte pookkal adapted from a short story by Malayalam writer Madhavikutty / Kamala Surayya. cast : Praveena and Kishore Satya.The film was telecast on Amrita TV and brought him critical acclaim and several awards including Kerala State Awards for Best TV Film , Director, Script Writer ,Music and Audiography.[1]

His first FEATUR FILM Orkkuka Vallappozhum/2009/ starring mainstream Malayalam actors, won him the Kerala Film Critics Association Award for Best Debut Director.[2] and the movie screened in various film festivals world wide. cast : Thilakan, Jagadeesh , Chali Pala, Shilpabala ,Meera Vasudev,Master Dhananjay , Baby Malavika etc. produced by Gods Own Moviz.
Story line : The return journey of an old man into the innocence of his past.

His second movie Kadhaveedu /House of Stories / released on November ,2013 / cast : Kunchako Boban , Biju Menon , Lal , Manoj K.Jayan , Kalabhavan Shajon , Bhama , Rituparna Sengupta , Mallika , Swapna Menon etc.The movie is the Historic come-together of the real gems of Malayalam literature M.T.Vasudevan Nair,Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer and MadhaviKutty on celluloid.
The storyline can be described as three husbands, three wives and a bachelor.
