Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues

The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) is an independent psychology and social science organizations, also affiliated with the American Psychological Association as APA Division 9. Founded in 1936, SPSSI has a long history of organizing psychologists' involvement in social issues. The society played a key role in the preparation of social science briefs in Brown v. Board of Education.[1]

The Society is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and "is an association of approximately 3000 psychologists, allied scientists, and others, who are interested in the application of research on the psychological aspects of important social issues to public policy solutions." It publishes several academic journals, including the quarterly Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy and the triannual Journal of Social Issues.
