Smažený sýr (Czech pronunciation: [ˈsmaʒɛniː ˈsiːr], Slovak: Vyprážaný syr) (literally "fried cheese") is a Czech and Slovak cheese-based dish, widely spread in both countries, thanks to the former state of unification (see Czechoslovakia).

A slice of cheese, usually Hermelín or Edam (Czech: Eidam) and about 1.5 cm in thickness, is breaded with flour, egg and bread crumbs and fried either in a pan or in a deep fryer. It is often served with a side salad, potatoes (fries or boiled potatoes), and typically with tartar sauce (or mayonnaise). In Czech fast food outlets, it can be also prepared in the form of a sandwich (i.e., between two slices of bread, usually something similar to a hamburger bun). The usual complement is tartar sauce (Czech: tatarská omáčka).
