Built in 1993, it supports about 1,100 students every year from grades 7–9. Skyview Jr High feeds into Bothell High School. It has currently been experiencing some growth in student population due to the spurt of new construction in the area. Therefore, the Northshore School District has recently underwent some boundary line changes.

Changes

There have been multiple changes in the summer of 2012, Mrs. Grimes will be missed dearly, as she has accepted another job. Mr. Nowak has left to South Africa to help in the cure for AIDS.

Also, the school itself is changing. The entire performance arts building is being remodeled. It will have a new stage and choir/drama room. The band room is also being reconstructed, but in a different way. The band room is going to be leveled and storage rooms with be removed and or rearranged.

Also, Ms. Hjort, long time beloved science teacher at Skyview, passed away several weeks before Christmas of 2014 due to Cancer. She was one of the first people to remain teaching at Skyview since its opening. She will be missed dearly.

Eaglei

Skyview provides its students with a year-long class where students were taught by John Moen until 2010. Now it is taught by Chris Seeley. The class teaches the basics of television maintenance, program creation, and editing; This is called "Eagle Eye" or "Eaglei". From 1993 to the this day, the class has been conducted by the entertaining to all classes, John (In place of Eaglei on Tuesday and Thursday, daily announcements are spoken at the same home room time.) Home room is between 2nd period and 3rd period (in the 3rd period classroom). During the 2008–2009 school year there have been two classes who have taken Eaglei as a class. One class is filming and starring in the show while, the other class is taking surveys of viewers and making videos to be shown on the show. Eaglei also provides information on the school's event calendar, the weather, and more.
The students that take Eaglei use professional green screens and soundboards. Eaglei also features a Good Morning Skyview show in which teachers and staff are interviewed or participate in trivia. Students watching Eaglei can call into the broadcasting room during trivia to provide questions or answers. Many teachers have connected their TV's to their projectors, resulting in a full screen view of Eagle Eye in the classrooms.

In the 09-10 school year, Eaglei consisted of several segments: the flag salute (on Monday,) the daily bulletins, the calendar, the weather, the game, and sometimes a feature or video segment where school events were discussed.

As of 2011-12 Eaglei was broadcast with an assortment of YouTube videos such as nyan cat and the old spice commercials. These were used as an attention-getters for students to pay attention to the broadcast. As of early March the principal decided to make the students to stop showing non-student made videos, and only videos made by themselves. With no YouTube videos. this has caused controversy in the Eagle I class, as many students were disappointed when they could not put YouTube videos in the broadcast.

Music program

Skyview Junior High School's music program is very well regarded. Skyview offers a jazz band, as well as various levels of orchestra, choir, and band classes. The director of the Skyview instrumental groups is Shawn McGinn. The director for choir is Ben Kromholtz. Each year, Skyview has participated in Music in the Parks at the Wild Waves amusement park, and has consistently been honored for its musical performances. However, Skyview's music groups did not attend Music in the Parks during the 09-10 school year due to budget cuts. Skyview received honors in their festival band (superior rating), full orchestra group (superior rating), and choir (superior rating) in the 2008 festival. More recently, both the Band and Orchestra won gold (superior) in the Canada festival on April 26, 2012.

In the 2011-2012 school year, Mr. Ben Kromholtz left Skyview. Ms. Elizabeth Applin taught choir for the later part of the year. Ms. Ailisa Newhall is the 2012-2013 choir teacher.

Class changes 2008–2009

Skyview experienced larger class sizes due to budget cuts and has brought back six new teachers. Student schedules were rearranged to reduced class sizes. Many students had at least one of their classes changed.

Honors program

Skyview features an honors program for students with exceptional ability. Students can take a test to enroll in Honors Math or Honors Humanities, which consists of English and Social Studies. Honors classes at Skyview have an accelerated curriculum which is one year ahead than regular curriculum. Skyview also features a special program called Double Honors math. Double Honors math consists of a curriculum that is two years ahead of the regular curriculum at that age. Double Honors ninth grade students take Honors Math classes at Bothell High School.
