Skythrenchelys lentiginosa is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).[1] It was described by Peter Henry John Castle and John E. McCosker in 1999.[2] It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from a single specimen taken from the Red Sea, in the western Indian Ocean. From the holotype it is known to dwell at a depth of 25 metres (82 ft). Females can reach a total length of 16.5 centimetres (6.5 in).[1]

The species epithet "lentiginosa" refers to the speckled colouring of the eel's head.[1]
