SkyGreece Airlines S.A. is a Greek airline headquartered in Markopoulo Mesogaias, Attica, near Athens.[2] It has a planned main base at Athens International Airport.
History
SkyGreece Airlines was founded in Athens, Greece in October 2012, by a team of Greek-Canadian entrepreneurs who have extensive backgrounds in aviation and tourism.[3][4] The company is a joint stock company, incorporated and headquartered in Athens, with offices also set up in New York City, Toronto, and Montreal (Laval).[5]
The company’s main mission is to connect Greek diaspora to their homeland by offering non-stop flights between Greece and North America, with eventual plans to also offer flights to South Africa as well.[3][5] Additionally, the airline's aim is to offer "authentic Greek hospitality".[3] Since then, there was no other update or announcement made by the airline.
SkyGreece Airlines is expected to commence its inaugural flights as soon as the certification is completed in Canada & The United States, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.[6] The first aircraft acquired in June 2013 is a former Martinair jetliner.[7][8]
Strategic Alliance
SkyGreece Airlines formed a strategic alliance with the Bulgarian company BH Air.[9] The aim of this alliance is to strengthen their role in the Balkans and in Eastern Europe.
