Skirmish mode
A skirmish mode or simply skirmish is an operating mode of a video game, often in contrast to a campaign mode. In comparison to a campaign mode, skirmish mode neglects story elements and often pits the player against peer- or computer-controlled opponents in a one-off round of gameplay, which may differ from gameplay in other modes slightly. The level or stages may be variable, and will often be similar or identical to stages encountered in a story mode. This is more common in real time strategy and tactics games.
