Sisyphus is the debut studio album from Sisyphus, a collaborative hip hop project consisting of Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, and Serengeti.[12] It was released on March 18, 2014 through Asthmatic Kitty.[5] The project was commissioned by the Walker Art Center and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music series to accompany an exhibition of the work of visual artist Jim Hodges, scheduled to run from February 14 through May 11, 2014.[13]

Videos were made for "Calm It Down",[14] "Alcohol",[15] "Booty Call",[16] and "Take Me".[17]

Reception

Sisyphus received generally favorable reviews from critics. Metacritic gave the album a score of 64/100, based on 17 reviews.[2] Sammy Maine of Drowned in Sound felt that "Sisyphus is almost certainly the greatest hip-hop folk-tinged electronica with a deep techno pop groove record you'll ever hear."[6] Paul MacInnes of The Guardian said: "Even when the fusion doesn't work, you can't help but admire the creativity."[7]
