Sis Hopkins (1941 film)

Sis Hopkins is a 1941 comedy film directed by Joseph Santley and starring Judy Canova in a remake of a 1919 film with Mabel Normand in the titular role. The supporting cast features Bob Crosby, Jerry Colonna, and Susan Hayward; and the plot involves an eccentric, unsophisticated country girl in the city staying with wealthy relatives who do not initially take her seriously. The film was photographed by Jack A. Marta, edited by Ernest J. Nims, and produced by Republic Pictures with a running time of 99 minutes. It was nominated for Best Art Direction, Black and White at the 14th Academy Awards, though it was subsequently withdrawn from the ballot for unknown reasons.
