Sirsaganj is a town and a municipal board in Firozabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Sirsaganj is a Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) constituency of the State of Uttar Pradesh in India. (AC No. 99).Shri Hariom Yadav (Smajwadi Party) is first MLA from Sirsaganj.

Areas after delimitation - KCs 2-Sirsaganj, 3-Madanpur, 4-Ukhrand, PCs 17-Bramhabad Lachhpur, 18-Rudhau, 19-Dadiyamai of 1-Shikohabad KC & Sirsaganj MB of 1-Shikohabad Tehsil. Shri Sanjiv Yadav has been elected as new chairman of Nagar Palika Sirsaganj in 2012.

Sirsaganj is located at 27°03′25″N 78°41′10″E / 27.05694°N 78.68611°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 162 metres (531 feet).

Sirsaganj is situated at the bank of the river Sirsa. However the river has gone extinction and are only ruins of the river left in the town.

People and Culture

In the town of Sirsaganj there lives 4404 families constituting a population than 28212 persons. There live 14926 males and 13286 females in Sirsaganj. Sex ratio of Sirsaganj is 887.98 females per 1000 males.

Hinduism is the main religion here. Muslims, Jains and Sikhs are in minorities. In Hindus Thakurs are in majority.

Generally people of Sirsaganj speak Khariboli Hindi i.e. a informal form of Hindi. People also speak clear Hindi. Many people in the town also has fluency in English. There live also a few speakers of Urdu and Punjabi.

Farming and Shopkeeping is main occupation of people of Sirsaganj. In Sirsaganj there also live a large number of businessmen, servicemen, lawyers and teachers.

People of the town are generally treated as prospers. But there also live a large number of people under poverty line. However this town is considered as a peaceful resident.

Potatoes and Cold Stores

Potatoes are the chief crop grown in the town of Sirsaganj. Potatoes production is highly notable in the town. Maximum supply of potatoes from here is to Mumbai. Sirsaganj also has a reputed Potato Mandi of Uttar Pradesh. Wheat and chilli are other major crops grown in Sirsaganj.

Sirsaganj is also famous for Cold Storages. There are more 100 cold storages in the Sirsaganj and nearby. Thus Sirsaganj has a storage capacity of tonns of biodegradable materials. Sirsaganj feed many cities around it as chief storage market. Storage capacity is the major means of economy of Sirsaganj.

Infrastructure


The town of Sirsaganj has well laid roads and streets. Street lights are available all over the city. However electricity supply remains poor. drainage system of the town is okay.

Sirsaganj has no railway station but it has a bus stand. But still people of Sirsaganj face problem of public transport as many of the bus drivers pass out through by pass nearby without coming to the bus stand.

There are also a post office, a police station, 4 police chaukis and 5 banks. Sirsaganj has three petrol pumps inside town, a small grain factory, a government guest house cum park, a reputed eye hospital, a hotel and a plenty of cold stores.

Education

There are 4 intermediate schools of U.P. board, C.B.S.E. 10+2 school, 3 degree colleges and many other schools of playway, primary and secondary level in the town of Sirsaganj. There is a large number of teachers giving private tution. But still the quality of education is very low as compared to competition level. Teachers for U.P. board are enough but quality C.B.S.E. teachers are rare.

Every year a large number of students go outside for higher studies and coachings. However success rate even after coaching remains very low.

However some of the students of the town with their hardwork made them clear to top institutes like IIT's, NIT's, IIIT's, NIFT, SPA's etc.across the nation.

Sirsaganj has produced an admirable number of engineers, doctors, chartered accountants, lawyers over the part few years.Mr Raghavendra Pal Singh is a prominent personality of this town. He has cleared Civil Services Examination of India by his hard work.He is now Deputy Commissioner in the Ministry of Finance. Mr Rakesh Yadav s/o Late Ch. Lal Singh , is also a prominent, honest and knowledgeable personality of this town who is currently serving as a Class I Officer in Ministry of Home Affairs , New Delhi .

Transportation

Sirsaganj is situated by side of N.H.2 about 70 km far from Agra. Grand Trunk Road passes through the town. Sirsaganj Need to one hospital. Sirsaganj has no railway station. It has a bus stand. But there remains always problem of regular bus service.

People use small scale private public transport like auto, taxis, tata magic for transportation to nearby cities. Many people use their own vehicles like motor-cycles and cars for transportation. Crops and animals are generally transported via trucks and tractors.
