Singidunum University (Serbian: Универзитет Сингидунум / Univerzitet Singidunum) is a private university in Belgrade, Serbia. The first of the faculties, the integral part of the university, was founded in 1999,[1] while the university itself was established in 2005[1] following the decision issued by the Council for University Education Development of the Republic of Serbia.[2] Singidunum University offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes in the fields of social sciences, formal sciences and applied sciences.[3]

Singidunum University is established in accordance with the Bologna Process education model by implementing the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The appropriate curricula and degree structure have been created on the bases of well-known models of European faculties and colleges, and the best practices of Serbian national faculties.

The Singidunum University Institute was founded as part of the integrated university, with the purpose of carrying out scientific and research work, taking part in Tempus and similar programmes, etc.[4]

Joint studies with Lincoln University

Singidunum University and Lincoln University, California, USA, have had a well-established cooperation for over five years, successfully organizing joint undergraduate and postgraduate studies in English language in Belgrade. Upon the completion of the programmes, students are awarded Lincoln University degrees—Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) in their respective fields.

All activities at the university are regulated by internal governing bodies: the University Council, Senate, and Collegium.[5]

Student life

There are about 12,000 students at the university. The university has 16.000 m2 of good-quality premises, equipped with state-of-the-art information technology and Internet infrastructure, audio-visual and other facilities required for successful teaching: 16 lecture theatres, 20 lecture rooms, 9 computer and Internet centres, foreign languages centre, library, staff consultation rooms, bank, students’ cafe and other facilities.[6]

Students take active part in the university activities by Student Parliament and Student Vice-Rector.[5]

Publishing activities

Singidunum University has a well-established publishing sector, issuing course books and textbooks for all scientific disciplines that are part of the curricula of the study programmes.

Apart from that, the university publishes Singidunum Scientific Journal of Applied Sciences, a journal of theory and practice presenting new work in the fields of finance, economics, management, informatics and computing, tourism and hospitality management, etc.
