N Sunil Kumar , popularly known as Suni (born on 14 Oct 1986), is a prominent Kannada Director, Lyricist, producer and Screen Writer.[1] He is most predominantly known for the 2013 film Simple Agi Ondh Love Story starring Rakshit Shetty and Shwetha Srivastav, which created quite the buzz as his directorial debut. Kannada Actor Srinagara Kitty did a Cameo role in the movie.[2] The success of his first venture prompted him to produce Ulidavaru Kandante directed by Rakshit Shetty[3] which acquired a Cult Movie status of sorts in the Industry.[4]
Personal life
Born on 14 October 1986 to Vijayalakshmi and Narsimhaiah at Malleswaram K C General Hospital, N Sunil Kumar (Suni) is a proud Bangalorean. He also has a sister named Harshashree. He completed his Pre university education from Peenya Government College having opted for Science in the English medium. He went on to pursue an Undergraduate course in Bio technology from KLE college. From his younger days, he has spent his time and energy on filling the pages of his notebooks with poems and that is as early as his passion for writing and cinema.
Career
Suni kick started his career with Janumada Gelathi, where he worked as an assistant director under Dinesh Baboo. Simultaneously working for Januma Janumadallu, under Prema, he later went on to become an associate director for Dinesh Baboo in School Master and other films. Subsequently focus shifted to a few short films, but when he decided to go independent, what came his way was Simple Agi Ondh Love Story. When producers expected him to cut down budgets with each script, a few friends and Suni decided to go independent and invested their own money and made Simple Agi Ondh Love Story on a budget of approximately 30-40 lakhs. Bahuparak[5] and Manamohaka[6] are the two movies which are under production by Suni.
Suvin
He recently began his production house named ‘Suvin’ and etymologically this has been derived from the names of his father, mother and his own. He also feels that it denotes triumph (win) which is good ( Su in Sanskrit means good)
