Silent Descent are a seven-piece trance metal band from Dartford, England.

Combining metal with trance and synth, they are viewed by many as an innovative band. Their sound can be described as a mixture of melodic death metal and trance music.

In 2007 the band entered the Radio global unsigned band awards, winning the "Symphonic rock or Metal" category, and selected by Judges to receive the "Supreme Silver" award (4th overall in the contest).[1] The following year the band won the Kerrang!/MCN Unsigned Live competition .[2] In August 2008, Silent Descent were featured in metal and alternative music magazine Metal Hammer who proclaimed them "...the trance metal juggernaught the world has been waiting for." In September 2009 Silent Descent sold out the Camden Underworld along with Alestorm.

The band performed at the Bloodstock Open Air music festival on 17 August 2008[3] and headlined Thursday night's Boardie Takeover at Download festival in 2009[4] and 2010.

Mind Games was officially released in the UK on 7 May and is due to be released in Japan on 23 May featuring 2 bonus tracks Call Me When You Get There & Wipe Your Chin And Walk Away. The album was tracked at Legacy London, featuring guest vocals from Official Sarah Jezebel Deva (Cradle of Filth), and mixed by Pontus Hjelm (Dead by April) with tracks 1 & 8 mixed by Hard Trance producer Alf Bamford (Technikal).

Silent Descent has been announced to play the Pepsi Max stage on Friday 8 June at the 2012 Download Festival

In 2013 their long-term musician Kipster left the band, they played with him at a farewell show at Leo's Red Lion in Gravesend, Kent.
