Siberian Education (Italian: Educazione siberiana) is a 2013 Italian crime-drama film directed by Gabriele Salvatores. It is based on the autobiographic novel with the same name written by Nicolai Lilin.[1] The film was nominated to 11 David di Donatello awards, including best film and best director.[2] Mauro Pagani won the Ciak d'oro for best score.[3] It was released on DVD as Deadly Code.[4] The novel by Lilin has never been published in Russia and a Russian journalist found upon investigation that the story was fabricated[5]
Plot
Gagarin is a boy in a small country of Transnistria, who lives with his friends under the control of his grandfather Kuzja. Kuzja imposes very strict education to children, focusing on hatred for the Soviets, regarded as enemies. The boys along with Gagarin commit their attacks against Soviet, however Gagarin is stopped. Seven years after he is freed, Gagarin discovers that his world has completely changed, and does not know how to succeed in solving his problems. Gagarin finally discovers that the ideals of his people have collapsed in the drug trade, and so he comes into this new system.
