Marquis Amonte King, known by his stage name Shy Glizzy, is a hip hop recording artist from Washington, D.C..[1]

Musical career

In 2012, Shy Glizzy released his mixtape Law. He was also featured on Complex as one of the "10 New DMV Rappers To Watch Out For." [2] On December 12, 2012, Shy released his mixtape Fxck Rap and ATL rapper Trinidad James appears on the track "Pilot." The Fader describes Fxck Rap as "an appealingly eager tape."[3]

On August 2, 2013, Shy Glizzy dropped his mixtape Law 2, a follow-up to his previous mixtape. The 14-track project features Migos, Yo Gotti, Kevin Gates, Starlito, and more. The following producers soundtracked the project: Karltin Bankz, Izze The Producer, Rick Flare, Metro Boomin, Big K, YB, Beezy, Rico Beats, Lil Lody, LG The Producer.[4]

On February 17, 2014, Shy Glizzy released his mixtape Young Jefe, an 18-track tape hosted by DJ Bigga Rankin, and featured production from Zaytoven, Cardo, Roger Beat and others.[5] From that mixtape, the hit single “Awwsome” turned into the biggest song of Glizzy’s young career. It spawned a remix off the record that features A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz that grabbed more than 750,000 streams on Soundcloud in the first week it dropped.[6] The mixtape also features "Medellin" with Young Scooter, as well as appearances from Young Thug, PeeWee Longway, Zed Zilla, Gudda Gudda, Plies and more. It was produced by Cardo, Will A Fool, Zaytoven, Nito Beats and more.[7]
