Shy Carter
Shy Carter is an American songwriter, record producer, and singer. He’s known for working with American popular acts such as Meghan Trainor.,[1] Rob Thomas and Sugarland. In 2009 he co-wrote “Someday”[2] with Rob Thomas which became a No. 4 hit on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Top 40 chart.[3][3] “Stuck Like Glue”,[4] his collaboration with Sugarland, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 20 and became the 11th most downloaded country music song of all time. He has also been featured on Latin artist Gloria Trevi's #1 song. He's also worked with Faith Hill, Ashanti, and Chingy.
Background and Career
Shy attended Grand Valley State University, graduating with a B.A. in Marketing.
Shy signed a production deal with Nelly in 2007. He signed a Publishing agreement with Primary Wave in 2008.
In September 2009 Rob Thomas released, "Someday", co-written with Shy, and became Rob Thomas's third career No. 1 on Billboard Magazine's Adult Top 40 chart.[3]
Shy co-wrote "Stuck Like Glue" with Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra) with Jennifer Nettles and Christian Bush of Sugarland, released in July 2010, selling almost three million copies and became the 11th most downloaded country music song of all time, and the highest debut for a country group or duo on the Hot 100, debuting at No. 20.
Shy co-wrote, co-produced, and was featured on the song "Shorty Is A Weirdo" in March 2011, with Ray J and Mr. Midwest.
In May 2012, American Idol runner-up Haley Reinhart released "Listen Up!" with Shy's song, "Let's Run Away" which he co-wrote and produced.
In May 2013 Marcus Canty's album, "This is Marcus Canty" co-wrote and co-produced the song "Don't Keep in Touch."
In 2013, Shy was a part of two songs on country artist Billy Currington's album "We Are Tonight". He co-wrote, produced and sang background on "Hallelujah" as well as rapped a verse on "Banana Pancakes."
Shy appeared on the "Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop" Gloria Trevia's album "De Pelicula", singing a rap verse on "Hablablah". The song reached #1 on Adult Pop Songs in the Billboard charts.[5]
Shy was featured on the song "Mr. Almost"[6] on Meghan Trainor's debut album TITLE.
