Shuklaganj is situated in Unnao district, but it is also considered as a suburb of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, located on the banks of holy river Ganges about 5 km from Kanpur on the SH 58 to Unnao.The population was 261,000 as of the 2001 census.According to census of 2011 it is 761000. It has 80% of literacy and is 5 km from Kanpur Cantonment. Shuklaganj was once known as Gangaghat.Though it lies in Unnao district, it lies nearer to Kanpur and hence is a suburb of Kanpur.The city is enlisted as a municipality of Kanpur Metropolitan Area.

History

Shuklaganj was established in 1935 Shuklaganj by DC A.N Shukla. In 1976, Bal Govind Montessori school made for infants. Each of the Foundation Day on February 8 cricket tournament held at the stadium is made ramkali goddess. He said that 8 of the 78 th Foundation Day on February Shuklaganj final tournament will be played. In addition to the tournament trophy to the winning team will be prizes.^[1][2]

Shuklaganj Municipality is the local government.As it is a biggest town in Unnao District it is a Block.BDO is the main head of the local government of Shuklaganj.It has SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) as it is a tehsil.

You can reach Shuklaganj from Kanpur by train, it is next station from Kanpur towards Lucknow, it takes only 10 min to reach there by train. 15 min by City Bus, 20 min from rickshaw, by walk you can reach there in 30 min.

By road

Shuklaganj is well connected to Unnao and Kanpur via Public transport like Rickshaw, Auto, Vikram Tempo. Shuklaganj is situated at old Bypass road (Kanpur-Lucknow Rajmarg).

By rail

Shuklaganj has a railway station named Kanpur Bridge Left Bank on the Kanpur-Lucknow line. Other big stations are Kanpur Central which is about 6 km away.
