Show of Arms is a Maltese non-profit organisation with the aim of setting up historically accurate displays and events through which it can educate the spectators on how life and warfare was in the earlier days. It also forms part of the Military Reenactment Federation - Malta.[1]

Show of Arms[2] is a Maltese re-enactment group and sword fighting school that studies the sword under a fully qualified Maestro d'Armi and follows the work of the 15th-century Italian Master Fiore dei Liberi.[3]

It portrays a vast era from the early 12th-century till the early 17th-century. Show of Arms’ speciality lies in the European Medieval period which is of great influence to Malta’s rich historical heritage from the arrival of the Normans in 1091 A.D. until the feudal period of Malta under the feudal Lords such as Gonsalvo Monroy.

The greatest influence for this club is the late 14th and early 15th-century; more specifically the Spanish and Southern Italian influences that were on the islands at that time.

Activities

Show of Arms' activities include historical sword fighting, archery and living history. The largest annual activity for Show of Arms thus far has been Medieval Mdina.[4] In June 2012 members from Show of Arms established a footprint internationally when they attended the Daugmales Hill Fort Festival[5] in Latvia.

For the past few years Show of Arms, together with the other clubs forming part of the Military Re-enactment Federation - Malta, have participated in a multi-era event under the patronage of H.E the President of Malta.[6] The proceeds from this event goes to a charity fund.[1][7]

Show of Arms have also featured in small productions for documentaries and TV programs and more recently in a Maltese feature film Adormidera which is set for release 28 September 2013.
