Shorea zeylanica is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
elliptic to lanceolate, cuneate prominently revolute base, caudate apex.
Trunk
low concave buttresses; Bark - yellow-brown, irregularly flaky; Immature Bark - pale brown; Wood - pale yellow.
Flowers
white; Inflorescence - lax pendent panicles.
Fruits
ovoid, pointed, wings 3 long and 2 short, twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy, ridges and slopes.
Uses
Wood - construction timber.
Culture
Known as දුන් (dun) in Sinhala.
