Shorea trapezifolia is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
lanceolate to elliptic, acuminate apex, lateral veins about 11-14 pairs.
Trunk
prominent buttresses; Bark - becoming regularly vertically fissured, patchy light brown-gray; Immature Bark - pale brown; Wood - pale yellow; young twigs pale yellow-brown pubescent.
Flowers
white; Inflorescence - panicles.
Fruits
subglobose, wings 3 long and 2 short, twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy; deep soil ridges, lower slopes.
Uses
Wood - light construction, plywood.
Culture
Known as තිනිය දුන් (tiniya dun) in Sinhala.
