Shorea oblongifolia is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
oblong, cordate base, tapering apex, subrevolute margins, lateral veins 13-16 pairs, intercostals scalariform.
Trunk
often crooked, small buttresses; Bark - irregularly thinly flaky, tawny brown.
Flowers
cream to pinkish; Inflorescence - axillary to ramiflorous panicles.
Fruits
ovoid to ellipsoid, apiculate, wings 3 long and 2 short, not twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy, alluvial valleys, lower slopes of wet zone.
Uses
Wood - construction timber.
Culture
Known as බෙරලිය (beraliya) in Sinhala.
