Shorea disticha is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
ovate-oblong to elliptic, obtuse to subcordate base, tapering apex, lateral veins about 8-11 pairs, without intermediaries, intercostals densely scalriform
Trunk
Bark - yellow brown, coming away in large patches; Immature Bark - pale brown; twigs yellow-brown pubescent; resinous.
Flowers
white; Inflorescence - axillary panicle.
Fruits
ovoid, pointed, wings 3 long and 2 short, twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy, deep soil, ridges, slopes of wet zone.
Uses
Wood - construction timber; resin-incense; fruits - vegetable.
Culture
Known as බෙරලිය (beraliya) in Sinhala.
