Shorea cordifolia is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.

Leaves

ovate to lanceolate, rounded base, tapering apex, lateral veins 8-11 pairs, midrib prominently elevated on upper surface.

Trunk

low concave buttresses, low branching; Bark - thin flaky, chocolate brown; Immature Bark - pale brown; Wood - pale cream.

Flowers

white; Inflorescence - panicles.

Fruits

ovoid, pointed, wings 3 long and 2 small, twisted.

Ecology

rain forest subcanopy, hill slopes of wet zone.

Uses

Wood - plywood; fruit- vegetable.

Culture

Known as කොටිකන් බෙරලිය (kotikan beraliya) in Sinhala.
