Shorea congestiflora is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
narrowly elliptic to ovate, subcordate base, long acuminate apex, lateral veins 11-15 pairs.
Trunk
buttresses thin and low; Bark - vertically fissured, coppery brown to gray, mottled; Immature Bark - meaty red, fibrous; W- pink.
Flowers
pale pink; Inflorescence - axillary panicles.
Fruits
subglobose, wings 3 long and 2 short, twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy on deep soil; ridges, lower hillsides of wet zone.
Uses
Wood - plywood.
Culture
Known as තිනිය (tiniya) by local people.
