Shorea affinis is a plant species in the Dipterocarpaceae family endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
lanceolate, rounded base, acuminate apex, margins revolute, lateral veins 9 pairs with intermediaries between purplish pink flush.
Trunk
low concave buttresses, cylindrical; B- smooth to longitudinally cracked and flaked, gray to brown.
Flowers
white; Inflorescence - axillary panicles.
Fruits
subglobose, wings 3 long and 2 short, twisted.
Ecology
rain forest canopy, hillsides and steep ridges.
Uses
Wood - plywood.
Culture
Known as බෙරලිය දුන් (beraliya dun) in Sinhala.
