Shohei Ono (大野将平 Ōno Shōhei, born February 03, 1992) is a male Japanese judoka. He won the gold medal in the lightweight (73 kg) division at the 2013 World Judo Championships. He did so by scoring ippon's with O soto gari and Uchi mata's the highlight of which was a spectacular Uchi Mata in the final against Ugo Legrand of France[1]
On May 28, 2013, Ono and four other senior male students in Tenri University’s judo club ordered younger members to slap freshmen in the face. After in investigation, on September 5 Ono was removed from his post of captain of the club and, with the other four, has been suspended for 30 days.[2]
