Shlomo Group

The Shlomo Group is a holding group which is based in Israel and operates internationally. The group consists of holdings in manufacturing and service industries, automotive, electro mechanical, telecoms, ports, ship building, logistics, insurance and real estate.[1]

History

The Shlomo Group was founded in 1974 by Shlomo Shmeltzer, when he set up a car rental company. The business grew and evolved into a large automotive service and operational leasing group. Shmeltzer led the group into other areas, and today the group is one of Israel's largest companies. The group is owned by Shmeltzer and he fills the role of Company Chairperson. Shlomo Shmeltzer died of a brain hemorrhage on July 9, 2014.[2][3]

The company is listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol SHLD.

Car Rental

The group's car vehicle rental subsidiary, Shlomo Sixt, is Israel's largest car rental company, controlling 27.5% of the market.[4] It is a franchise of the German car rental brand, Sixt.
