Biography

Nakamura was born on 13 February 1986.[1] He resides in Sapporo, Japan, but was born in Ibaraki, Japan.

Musical career

He started to compose music in 2002, at the age of 16.[2] In 2004, he started to distribute his original songs, in the name of mek, at Muzie, a Japanese music distribution site for indie communities.[3] At age 19, he encountered progressive house when James Grant from Anjunabeats, performed in Japan. Nakamura was inspired by Grant's progressive sounds and starting to produce progressive house and progressive trance as his main fields.[4] His style of music is characterized by progressive house blended with deep and lyrical sounds, often piano. He has released on record labels such as Solaris Recordings, Proton Music, Silk Digital and Otographic Music.

In 2011, he released the original artist album Sapporo on Silk Digital. It features eight original mixes, two of them collaborations with Japanese artists Kazusa and Kyohei Akagawa.[5]

He has also worked as a music producer besides being a DJ in Japan. He produced tracks for artists like Funky Monkey Babys.[6] In addition he has provided some tracks for the Yosakoi dance team, and for “Girls award 2010” which was held in Yoyogi Stadium.[7]
