Shimotsuke (下野市 Shimotsuke-shi) is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
As of May 1, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 59,603, with 21,400 households and a population density of 800 persons per km². The total area is 74.58 km².
The modern city of Shimotsuke was established on January 10, 2006, from the merger of the towns of Minamikawachi (from Kawachi District), and the towns of Kokubunji and Ishibashi (both from Shimotsuga District).
