Shilpa Gupta
Shilpa Gupta (born in 1976) is a contemporary Indian artist, who lives and works in Mumbai. She studied sculpture at the Sir J. J. School of Fine Arts from 1992 to 1997.
Gupta is an interdisciplinary artist who uses sound, video, photography and performance to capture and explore themes such as desire, religion and security issues (nations, borders, militarism and identity).
Exhibitions included: Sound Art: Sound as Medium of Fine Art at ZKM Media Museum, Karlsruhe (2012) and Paris, Mumbai, New Delhi at Centre Pompidou, Paris (2011).
Participation to biennales included: Gwangju Biennale, Korea (curated by Okwui Enwezor), International Triennale of Yokohama in Japan (curated by Hans-Ulrich Obrist) and the International Biennale of Contemporary art of Sevilla (curated by Peter Weibel).
She collaborates with gallery Yvon Lambert, Paris.
