Sheyene Gerardi (born April 13,in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan actress, model, host, and television personality.

Early life

At a time when filmmakers turned actresses into the idols, a brilliant woman from Venezuela emerged by the name of Sheyene Gerardi. But it was her life, both private and public, that comprised the best melodrama. Destiny is a fine screenwriter. Sheyene Gerardi is a revelation: a gifted, intelligent, vulnerable woman who is far more complex than the unwitting sex symbol she portrayed on screen.[1]

As an only child she spent her childhood with her mother, a veterinarian who became a widow when she was six months pregnant and never remarried. Her grandparents were Brazilian and Italian respectively. She has one of the most beautiful faces and bodies of Venezuelan television, attributable to her European roots. A perfect blend to be a participant in the Miss Venezuela beauty pageant, an endeavor she gave up in order to start her medical studies. Growing up in a healthy environment contributed to her capability of simultaneously carrying out several activities such as rhythmic gymnastics and swimming. She also represented her school in a mathematics and chemistry competition ranking at the highest level. At the same time, her liking for foreign languages increased, and as a teenager she learned French and English fluently. In what would have been a casual involvement in a tribute paid to Giuseppe Verdi, her passion for opera awakened and eventually became one of the artist’s favorite hobbies. Her career as a professional model began when she was a young adult, in perfect conjunction with her medical education at Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV). Gradually, several television projects were offered to her, and lack of time led to the interruption of her studies. Successively, RCTV awarded her with a scholarship that turned her career around.

Career

Although modeling was left behind, on different occasions she appeared in magazines, including a popular Venezuelan collector’s edition which featured her as one of the most beautiful bodies of 2005 and 2007. In the meantime her career as an actress soared up with her participation in highly rated, prime time soap operas that paved her way to a definite international projection. Sheyene is known for her work in more than ten countries such as Russia, Germany, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, among others. A family tragedy changed her life forever in 2007, just days before starting the recordings of “Por Todo lo Alto” (In Style) a RCTV soap opera, her mother died in a car accident. The actress kept on working while trying to cope with her pain. When the recordings ended, she continued with her performance in Camaleona, another RCTV soap opera, but she was forced to cancel her appearance due to an advanced lymphoma, stage IV. The actress left the country and rushed to the United States seeking a second opinion. Therapy was applied to her at once; however, the doctors gave her three months to live. Meanwhile, in her native land, a school was named after her in Barlovento, State of Miranda. The Sheyene Gerardi School is dedicated to teach extracurricular activities. Sheyene Gerardi, was never entirely absent, her love of work and leading a quiet life healed her mind and helped the actress win her battle. She underwent three years of chemotherapy and surpassed all the barriers that the process entailed. She did not loss her hair and kept a healthy appearance; this still is a case study for the best oncologists of Venezuela and the United States. During her chemotherapy treatments, Sheyene Gerardi took a notable series of stunning and sexy pictures, providing an unconventional way of facing and coping with cancer. Not satisfied with that, during her struggle, the actress had to decline important career opportunities. In fact, the Peruvian news outlets reported that she would have been part of the second season in a successful sitcom of that country. It was then when a film project caught Sheyene’s attention, and she traveled there to work in La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre with an all-star cast, such as the late Jorge Vargas. Six months later, she was seen in San Juan de los Lagos. Not long ago, she was at the National Association of Television Program Executives NATPE promoting her recent films. Little is known of her love life; with a career of more than a decade the actress kept herself out of scandals. Rumors spread that she had a relationship with the American actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, but for the time being she is not involved with anyone, although she repeatedly expressed her desire to marry and start a family.

Sheyene has received a star which declares that her name will shine forever in heaven, along with those of other celebrities: Elton John, Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise, Mick Jagger, Princess Diana of Wales, Frank Sinatra and many others. The coordinates of her star are Aries RA1h59m02.71sDE+21°54’51.74 and its registry is securely kept in a safe in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as in the book Your Place in the Cosmos which is in the Library of Congress, Copyright Office, in the United States. At the end of 2010, Sheyene represented as hostess invited in the program "Esta Noche Tu Night", which Alexis Valdés leads, in the stellar schedule of Mega Tv Channel, in the city of Miami.

Free and clear of cancer for five years, she celebrated her fifth remission “birthday” alongside Deepak Chopra and Mike Dooley from The Secret. In addition, Mike Dooley invited her to be the face of his web site www.tut.com The Universe Talks.

Currently, Sheyene just completed her therapy and is considering projects that will bring her back to television, not exclusively in soap operas, since she would like to explore other dimensions of her career.
