The Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel is a five-star hotel in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. It is located in a central area overlooking the old part of the city and run by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. The hotel opened in 1989.
History
The hotel was among a few joint ventures with Western companies during the Communist period. In August 2007, the UAE-based Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority bought the hotel through its subsidiary RAKIA Georgia LLC for 68 million USD. The hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment (USD 25 Mio) as of December 2014.[1]
