Shawn King (singer)

Shawn King (born Shawn Ora Engemann on November 5, 1959) is an American singer. She is the wife of television and radio personality Larry King. King has recorded one album, In My Own Backyard, for Lofton Creek Records.

Personal

King was born in Los Angeles, California. She attended North Hollywood High School, and was voted Homecoming Queen in her senior year.

King grew up in the music business beginning her professional music career at the age of three, when she sang a solo on a Nat King Cole Christmas album. She went on to sing on movie soundtracks, commercials, and sang with artists and producers such as Neil Diamond, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Sergio Mendez, Burt Bacharach, The Beach Boys, Bobby Sherman, Giorgio Moroder, Steve Tyrell, David Foster, Carl Jackson, and Keith Follese. She has recorded duets with Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell. After her divorce from Dan Southwick, King moved from Utah back to LA, where she began her television acting career guest starring on shows like Knight Rider, Simon and Simon, Hotel, The A-Team, Who's The Boss, Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, Full House, and It's Gary Shandling's Show, among others.

She co-hosted The Spectacular World of Guinness Records with David Frost. King hosted USA Network's Hollywood Insider between the years 1989-1995. In 1991 She played Connie the Las Vegas Showgirl in the movie Rover Dangerfield.

King attended Brigham Young University. She married Larry King^[1] on September 5, 1997. She is the mother of three sons: Chance Armstrong King (b. March 9, 1999) and Cannon Edward King (b. May 22, 2000), who are from King, and Danny Southwick (b. September 28, 1981) from a previous marriage.^[2]

With her brother Paul Engemann she had a small (#91) national chart record, "For Your Love", in 1975, billed as Christopher, Paul, and Shawn.

King is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her father, Karl Engemann, is an executive in the recording industry and began working with the Osmond Family in the mid-1970s. Shawn's uncle, Bob Engemann, was an original member of the 1960s trio The Lettermen. He died in 2013.

On April 14, 2010, both Larry King and Shawn King filed for divorce.^[3] They have since stopped the proceedings, claiming, "We love our children, we love each other, we love being a family. That is all that matters to us".^[4]

King is a co-founder and board member of Ora TV, a digital network the Kings have partnered with Carlos Slim Helú to create.

King has served a chairman of the Board of The Larry King Cardiac Foundation since 1998.
