Shane and Friends is an American audio podcast created by and starring YouTuber Shane Dawson[1] and his producer and friend Lauren Schnipper.[1] The podcast premiered on June 5, 2013 onto SoundCloud and iTunes. Shane and Friends focuses on Shane Dawson and Lauren Schnipper discussing events happening in popular culture, their personal lives, and interviewing various celebrities. The podcast's pilot episode had reached a peak of #125 on iTunes within 24 hours of its release.
History
2013: Premiere
Shane and Friends' pilot episode premiered on June 5, 2013. The episode was met with success after being released on iTunes and SoundCloud for free, reaching a peak of #125. The episode also featured an interview with YouTube personality and singer Rebecca Black.
2014: Schnipper's departure
On episode 25 of the podcast, Lauren Schnipper announced her departure from the podcast. Schnipper stated her intentions to focus on other projects, although she said that she would continue to stay the producer of the show. Schnipper also announced during the episode that although that was leaving her position as a co-host after the episode, she said that an episode featuring her and Dawson at VidCon would be released sometime soon in the next several months.
After Schnipper's departure, Jessie Buttafuoco had became a permanent co-host sometime during late 2014.
