Shamir Aziz Quidwai (Urdu: شامیرعزیز قائدوائ) was a Pakistani singer and reality programs competitor. He was best known for his first reality show Pakistan Idol.[1] Shamir is a punk rock singer. Prior to Pakistan Idol Shamir joined a alternative rock band called DissBelief. He became the lead vocalist and guitarist of band with other co-artists. He is one of the 11 finalist of currently running Pakistani reality singing competition Pakistan Idol.[2]

Personal life

Shamir Aziz Quidwai was born to a Muslim Family in a Islamabad, ICT on November 19, 1990. He held a degree in electrical engineering, despite pursuing a career in engineering, he pursued in music and joined a band called DissBelief an alternative rock inspired band, where he act as a lead vocalist, the band have been highly appreciated and positively reviewed by Pakistani Industry.

Pakistan Idol

Shamir Quidwai auditioned for Pakistan Idol in Islamabad Auditions. He was selected and got a golden ticket to Karachi after his rock-metal performance. Shamir performances in Pakistan Idol critiqued due to non-versatility of his tone. Shamir performance in final couldn't impress the judges but in eliminations Shamir was safe achieving high votes.[3] Shameer is eliminated on March 16 after getting the least votes,he finishes in 8th place.

DissBelief

Shamir is a lead vocalist of the band DissBelief formed prior to Idol with other three co-artist in 2005, Fahad Humayun Chohan, Hammad Khalid and Najeeb Aftab.[4] DissBelief is an alternative rock band, a subgenre of rock music inspired by 80s most popular first of Alt-rock band called R.E.M.. Band and its artists were heavily praised by media and audience stating that Future of Pakistani Music.[5] They release a music video Pen-chor in 2012 for which they got critical acclaim and was heavily praised by listeners.[6]
