Shahwani

Shahwani (Urdu: شاہوانی) is a Baloch tribe vast, ancient tribe of Baloch according to history; Khan E Baloch, Khan E Kalat, Ameer Mir Naseer khan Ahmedzai Baloch regime. When the population was counted by the establishment of the Tribe Force (army). the population of this tribe was about 30,000; however, a British census reported that in 1901&1914, according to the first report the population of the Shahwani Tribe was only 6000 and a subsequent report showed even less, approximately 3700. Whereas the small tribes population living in Sariab is quite larger than the British report. However, they make up the majority of the population of sub-division of Kalat and Kachi districts such as Sarwan, Dadhar, Dirkai, Mirbagh and Haji Shahr, and in certain areas it's solely Shahwani occupied.

Some people attribute this tribe to the son of Malik Shaho ("Shaho's tribe are in Punjab,Kalat & Sindh"). A historian wrote in his book titled, "The History of Balochistan", that Shahwani are paz Rind (sons of Shaho).

The majority of this tribe lives in Balochistan Province of Pakistan, but some of its people also live in Sindh and Punjab provinces. They are also settled in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and in Middle Eastern countries.
