Shaheizy Sam bin Abdul Samad (born 4 September 1982) is a Malaysian actor, singer and producer who was known as a young star in the 1990s before rising to fame in the controversial movies, Bohsia: Jangan Pilih Jalan Hitam in 2009, and the box office movie, Adnan Sempit the following year.

Biography

Family

Sam was born to actress Khaty Fauziah and former Selangor State Deputy Police Chief, Abdul Samad Jaaman. He is the youngest child of five.

Three of his siblings are also involved in the entertainment industry. His first brother, Ahmad Shah Al-Jeffry (also known as Jeff), was a member of the 1990s Malaysian pop group, A to Z. His sister, Zizie Izette, is an award-winning actress with numerous film and TV drama to her credit.[1] His other brother, Samzy Fuzette, is a former actor and currently an active businessman. Sam's other sister, Jozieta Ronalie Abdul Samad, is the only one who is not involved in the entertainment industry.

The family's involvement in arts started when Izette began acting at the age of 14 and when Jeff joined A to Z in 1996.

Before Sam's father died in 9 April 1995 from a chronic illness, he had requested that Khaty take some time to determine the direction of the family. The single mother of five children said her husband had told her to choose whether to continue working at the office, or to accompany Izette to her filming location.

Early age as a child actor (1995-1999)

Following Izette and Jeff's successes, Sam started acting when he was 12 years old through the film called "Sama Tapi Tak Serupa" (Same But Not Similar).

In 1998, after his Lower Secondary Assessment (PMR) examination, Sam appeared in the TV drama titled "Pa'e", directed by Shaharuddin Solomon or better known as Saian Salimon. Sam stood out with his ability to bring the character to life, and the drama received two nominations at the Malaysian Anugerah Skrin 1998 (Screen Awards 1998).

Acting hiatus and involvement in music (2000-2005)

After his appearance in Pa'e, Sam backed away from the acting world, and instead focused on completing school until 2001.

When Sam was 18 years old, he decided to continue his education in sound engineering, since he was more interested in music than acting. Sam also learned to play the guitar and keyboard and began to establish his own vocal group with the influence of hip-hop and R&B.

Together with Syed Hussein or Sein (which later joined Ruffedge), Shear Haziman Khan, and Haziman Ramli (Tommy), Sam formed an underground rap group known as M.O.B., and planned to sign the group under A to Z Production.

Unfortunately, the plan fell through. M.O.B., however, did have the opportunity to collaborate in producing singer Syafinaz's music album called Syyhh .. . Under the music label Positive Tone, M.O.B. also collaborated on a song called Rinduku Rindumu (My Longing, Your Longing) which was part of a dedication album for legendary composer Ahmad Nawab and published by Ahmad Izham Omar (music maestro and currently Chief Executive Officer of 8TV channel). The song climbed the charts of major radio stations in 2001 and subsequently introduced M.O.B. as one of the up-and-coming hip-hop groups in Malaysia.

Still, M.O.B. didn't reach the level of success they hoped for. M.O.B. never recorded their own studio album, even after the numerous collaboration on recording projects with other hip-hop groups. Two other songs that M.O.B. have ever recorded are "Foo" and "Don't Cha Worry" (featuring Ruffedge).

In 2003, the 20-year-old Sam returned to acting when he was cast in an indie digital film project by director Woo Min Jing called The Son. This dramatic thriller tells of the psychological experience of a 15-year-old youth and his relationship with a married couple. Sam acted as the rebellious youth who was offered refuge and shelter in the couple's home, where each of them showed their concerns in totally opposite ways, spearing the confused youth's journey into seeking answers and truth to his dilemma. The digital film aired on ntv7's Odisi slot, where Sam had the opportunity to work with veteran actors like Afida Es, Yalal Chin and Hashim Osman.

Re-emergence in acting (2006-2008)

When he was 24 years old, Sam decided to return to the field of acting, starring in TV dramas such as Bisikan Hati, Elly, Noda Semalam and Kasanova XXL, and allowed him to re-polish his acting chops. Sam admitted that he dislikes attending auditions, and depended mainly on offers from friends within the industry.

Sam's friend Shamsul Yusof, who is also a director and actor, offered Sam the part of the antagonist character Acai, a hot-tempered, illegal roadbike racer in the blockbuster movie "Bohsia: jangan Pilih Jalan Hitam". The critics and media praised Sam's portrayal in the movie, and the character earned him a Best Actor nomination in the Hollywood assistant in the 23rd Malaysian Film Festival (MFF) in 2009. Despite losing to Shafie Naswip, the public took notice of Sam's acting calibre and was expected to dominate major Malaysian movie award ceremonies in the future.

Rising popularity (2009-present)

Sam's collaboration with Malaysian film studio giant Metrowealth Movies Production (MMP) occurred when actor Pierre Andre withdrew from the role of Johan in the film Jangan Pandang Belakang Congkak by director Ahmad Idham, due to friction between Andre with Idham, and producer David Teo. Following that, Sam, fresh out of his role in Bohsia, was offered Andre's role in Congkak, in addition to a small role for another of MMP's movie, called Syurga Cinta. Since then, Sam has been actively starring in films by MMP, not coincidentally playing to record box-office proceeds.

In 2010, Sam appeared in the film Adnan Semp-it and found that the film received positive and the highest collection in the historical collection of the first day of the film in Malaysia. Sam is once again assumed the character of this Mat Rempit Hopeless romantic attitude this open the eyes of players turned out to be the art of natural talent that could not polished is owned by Sam.

Sam is expected to easily put his name as a prominent actor of this new decade apart successfully established itself as one of the characteristic actors commercial value in acting.

On 7 April 2013, he received Anuegerah Bintang Paling Popular Berita Harian (ABPH) (Most Popular Star Award by Berita Harian) 2012.

Personal life

In 2008, Sam was reportedly in love with actress, Tengku Putri Najwa (Wawa) through the popular drama Dari KL ke Queenstown. The relationship was received warmly by the media during the 21st Malaysian Film Festival. As it is understood, the relationship was established over a year getting the blessing of both families. Sam and Wawa at the moment wanted to focus on their artistic careers.

Early in 2010, Sam was reportedly single again. The demands of acting meant he did not have time to think about marriage. Sam now likes to spend time alone to watch movies. Other activities of choice include shopping and chatting with friends on social websites such as Facebook.

Sam, twice heartbroken, has not met someone to fill his heart's void after breaking up with Wawa. He would like a soul-mate who is cheerful and talkative. In addition, she must have the characteristics of real women. Sam is not concerned whether she is in show-business or not. He just does not want to repeat his previous heartbreaks.
