Sex House

Sex House is a web series produced by The Onion, produced via their Onion Digital Studios department. It is exclusive to YouTube per a grant from the website.[1] It is a dark satire of reality shows, their production and surrounding culture.[2][3][4] The series was directed by Geoff Haggerty, produced by Grant Jones, Sandy Gordon and Matt Corrado, cinematography by Mark Niedelson and production design by Lauren Adel Klich.

Plot

Six people representing various reality show stereotypes including a married older contest winner are put in a house designed around having as much sex as possible. They soon realize, however, that they will not be fed, medically cared for or allowed to leave until every person has sex, which they eventually all agree not to out of spite. Tired of them not having sex, in episode seven the producers have the host give them all drinks spiked with an unknown drug that makes them all happy, suggestible and want to have sex. However, they are all still extremely malnourished and too weak to have sex. When the host brings in more of the spiked drinks, one member Tara, remembers that it acts like an acid when it touches the outside of the body and tries to warn of everybody not to spill it on any of the frogs the producers had let into the house to eat the flies, as she considers them her friends. She accidentally splashes some of it into the host's eyes, who screams that he's gone blind and is angrily dragged out of the house by security. They then all make themselves throw up until the drink is entirely out of their systems. In response, the producers pump sleeping gas into the house via the vents, causing all of them to fall unconscious.

When they awake, they are told to have sex immediately. They lie to the producers over the speakers and during the confessionals, saying that their regular group-meetings are to discuss the best way to have a group orgy, while they are actually planning to kidnap the Sybian repairman in order to steal his tools for use in an escape plan. They chain him in the room overtaken with mold from the expired pumpernickel and attempt to escape, but are then chased by a masked guard with a lead pipe. He savagely beats Derek, but doesn't realize that his body had gone into a defensive state because of lack of nutrition, and Frank manages to get up and knock him out with a bottle. They go to release the Sybian repairman, but find him suffocated to death on the mold. The producers threaten to charge them with manslaughter if they do not have sex, to which Frank responds by taking a hammer to his groin. The next episode, number nine, starts off with the producers (their faces blurred and voices disguised) saying how the show has lost all its funding and they should instead put it online. Meanwhile, the cast has all come to accept that they are never leaving and have made an orderly work schedule to keep them all fed and healthy, living off barley grown by Jay. However, one of them Derek, has contracted a virus and does not seem to be getting over it. They live alongside the camera crew, also abandoned in the house by the producers, to which none of them speak to each other. Frank and Erin have started a family after he accidentally got her pregnant nine months prior, Erin having come to forgive Frank after he saved her from the masked goon. Running low on their grown food, they all attempt to eat the remaining live frogs, but are stopped by Tara, who considers the frogs to have been just as betrayed by the producers as they were. As she struggles to stop them eating them, she accidentally breaks one of the walls covering a window loose, and it falls, giving them the opportunity to escape. The camera pans to outside the window, which reveals that the Sex House is actually located in the middle of an urban area. However, they have all become mentally institutionalized from their months in the house and instead seal the wall back up before going back to eating the frogs.

Some undiscerned time later, the contestants have left the house and appear on a reunion show. They do not appear to have ill will towards the producers and have become vapid personalities, interested only in mostly superficial pursuits. Alex is now dating the announcer who stalked her after leaving the house, Erin has given up her baby for adoption (to a wealthy couple) to focus on her blogging career, Frank has left his wife (and it's revealed that the "therapist" he impregnated had fraternal twins, who Frank has never seen) and is writing screenplays with Jay, Tara distributes the mold as a vaccine to dengue fever, and Derek now identifies as a heterosexual and works for Coolio. The show teases a second season set in San Diego, focused solely on the frogs.
